How To Create A Facebook Business Page

Updated: Nov 24, 2019

Hey guys!

Juan from Online Entrepreneur Now here and today I'm going to show you how to create your own Facebook business page.

Written guide below

Create The Page

So to start you're gonna need a private Facebook account.

Then you're going to click on create at the top of the page.

After that, you will have two options:

  1. Business or brand

  2. Community or public figure

Choose the one that fits what you need…

For this example, I'm going to click on business or brand.

Enter your business name and your category, then click continue.

Uploading Your Facebook Page Profile Picture And Cover

Facebook will help you get started by suggesting that you upload a profile picture and a Facebook page cover.

You can upload your logo if you have one, or if you don't you can go to this website: www.canva.com where you can create your own profile picture and Facebook page cover.

On Canva, click on the “Social Media” template to create an image that fits your Facebook profile image size.

Choose a photo or create your own logo.

In this example, I'm going to create a logo.

After your done, click on download.

When downloading a logo, it's important to click on “Transparent Background” so that you can place it on different backgrounds.

This is a pro feature on Canva.

You can use their pro trial which is 30 days by entering your credit card details and while you have the trial you can keep using their pro features.

If you want to continue with the pro features after those 30 days, it costs around 12$/month I think.

Or if you don't want to pay, you can just cancel it after the 30 days.

After you've downloaded your logo/profile picture, upload it and adjust it until it fits exactly as you want (note: you will be able to adjust it only if you upload an image after the Facebook suggestions, directly from your page).

Cool, now it's going to ask for a cover picture and you can create it on Canva as well.

Just go to Canva and look for the "Facebook Cover" size canvas.

After your done, click download again and this time you don't need a transparent background, so just click download and upload it.

If you click on your Facebook page cover you will be able to see several options you can choose from.

You can use your own Facebook photos or videos or you can upload a photo or a video from your own computer or phone.

You can also create a slideshow of different images.

Creating A Vanity URL

The next thing you're gonna want to do is change your URL or your link to the Facebook page which right now looks long and is hard to remember, and the way you're gonna do it is by creating a Vanity URL.

In order to create a vanity URL click on the grey word below your Facebook page profile picture, which says @username and write down your business name or something similar that is easy to remember.

This will create a shortened link to your Facebook business page.

Filling Out Your About Page

The next thing you should do is go to your settings, go to your page info which is your about page, and fill out any information that is useful like your description, your phone number if you have one, your website, email, location and so on…

Call To Action Button

Alright, so the next thing that I'm going to show you is how to add a call to action button.

Every Facebook page has a call to action button where people can take easy action.

So for example, if we click on that we can change it to "book with you now", "contact you", "learn more about your business", and "shop with you".

So for example if we click on "Contact You", then you will have several options you can choose from like "Contact Us" - that will redirect them to your website, "Send Message" - they will be able to private message your Facebook page, and other options like emailing you or calling a phone number you want them to call.

Facebook Messenger Options

I'll go a a bit deeper about ”Send Message” because it has a few features I want to explain.

So let's say you chose "Send Message", you will see that the text of the button has changed to “Send Message” and if someone clicks on it they will be able to send your page a private message on Facebook.

You can use Facebook messenger to engage with people on your page.

Facebook helps people start a conversation with you by providing you with a number of tools you can access by going to setting, and then to messaging+inbox tabs.

  • Prompt people to send you messages which means that when people land on your page, a messenger window will open, which is really useful for getting them to message you.

  • You can help them out with frequently asked questions that will appear as buttons in the chat window, for example: "what kind of food do you serve", "can I see a menu", "where are you located". They will be able easily click a button and start a conversation with your page.

  • You can show a greeting text so that in the messenger window there will be a greeting like "hey John Smith thanks for getting in touch with us with some additional instructions". That will help them send you a message as well.

  • If you go to the Inbox tab and then click on "Automatic Responses", you will be able to send "Away Messages" when your page is away and you can't respond to people's messages like “thanks for your message we are away and can't respond right now”, so they will know you're away and you will respond to them later.

  • You can also send instant replies when someone messages your Facebook page for the first time, for example: “thanks for contacting us a representative will be with you in a second”.

Another thing I recommend is inviting your friends to like your page to get more exposure for your page as well as social proof.

When people engage with your page via likes, shares and comments, it will be shown in other peoples feeds.

Facebook also offers a few tips when you're starting out which I recommend you follow.

These are the main things you need to do when setting up a Facebook page.

I hope you found value in this guide, and if you did, then don’t forget to share it with others so that it might help them as well.
