How To Create A Free Landing Page With Wix (Step-By-Step)

Updated: Dec 6, 2019

Wix is the largest website builder on the planet right now and for good reasons!

  • It's super easy to use

  • Very advanced

  • Newby friendly

  • Does not require any coding capabilities whatsoever

  • And it's reasonably priced

Now, to the point of this article, one of the many things you can do with Wix is to create a landing page or pages (as many as you want) for no extra charge, and they can be pretty damn good too!

You can watch my video tutorial about this very topic or just keep reading, whatever is easier for you:

So... you prefer to read ha?

Ok then let's get to it!

Sign Up To Wix:

Sign up to Wix if you haven't already (if you already signed up and created a website you can skip steps 1 and 2).

>> CLICK HERE to sign up.

Choose Your Template:

Select the Wix editor and choose the best template for your needs depending on the kind of website you want to create aside from your landing pages.

This will speed things up for you when you'll want to focus on building your website.

Or if you just want landing pages, select a landing page template.

Create A New Page:

Create a new page by going to pages and menus on the top left side and then clicking on "create new page" then give it a descriptive name for your own organization.

Optimize Your Page Settings:

Select the 3 dots next to your page and select "Settings".

On the page info tab, decide whether or not you want this landing page to appear on your site's menu by toggling the appropriate button on or off (in most cases, it's better to not have it in your site's menu, but that's up to you).

If you decide to have it in your site's menu, give it an appropriate name.

Next, select the "Layouts" tab and I recommend you choose "No Header & Footer" since you want that page to have a single purpose and don't want people who land on that page to get distracted and click away.

Next, select the SEO tab and fill out your page title, description, and URL.

This is more important if you decide to show this page in search results (you can select whether or not it shows in search results by toggling the button at the bottom of this tab).

Next, select the social share tab and pick a good image, title, and description for your page.

This is the preview that people will see when and if people share your page on social media.

Design Your Landing Page:

Let's start creating and designing your landing page!

By now, I'm guessing you already have a specific purpose for your landing page (i.e: collecting leads, selling a product, etc').

If not then first make a decision for the call to action you want your page to have.

Ok so now that you have a definite purpose for the page let's get to it.

A landing page should be short, sweet and to the point.

Its main intent is to grab attention quickly and get people interested in what you have to offer.

So, the first things that people see when they land on your page are your title and your images.

Make sure they appeal directly to the kind of people your targeting, grabbing their attention with a bold/mysterious/shocking title and some beautiful, high-quality images.

To add text, click on the + button on the top left, click on "Text" and select a good looking font.

Make sure it is big so they can't miss it!

To add images select the + button and click on "Image" (you can decide to upload your own images/use stock images (free or paid)/or use illustrations.

Next, you'll want to add your main copywriting explaining all the benefits they will get if they leave their email/purchase your product/etc' (again add text).

And of course, you can add any other features you want :)

Add A Call To Action (CTA) To Your Landing Page:

Lastly, add your email capturing form/purchase button or any other form of call-to-action (CTA) you want.

To add a lead collection form you've got a few options:

  • Click on the app market and choose Wix Forms to add a form, then edit it to your liking.

  • Click on the + button, go to "Contact Forms" and select a form template. Then edit it to your liking.

  • Create a lightbox (a pop-up form) by clicking on the + button and selecting "Lightbox". Select the lightbox you like and edit it to your liking and I suggest you toggle automatic pop-up off in the settings so it only triggers once the user clicks a button. Add a button to your page and link it to your lightbox.

  • The 3 previous options are part of the Wix native email marketing platform. If you're using an external email marketing platform you'll need to embed your lead box or email sign up form by adding an HTML code from your email marketing provider. To do so, go to your email marketing platform and search for an embed code to your sign up form. To add it click on the + button, then click on "More" and select "HTML iframe". Place your code in it and adjust the dimensions.

To add a product simply add a button that links to the product page.

And that's it!

You've got yourself a new landing page.
